Activote is a key component in Promethean's Learner Response system. PDu were commissioned to re-design an 'off the shelf unit' to be used as a platform to demonstrate the technology.
Working within a very tight budget we were asked to design a solution efficient for mass production (250,000 – 500,000 units per annum) which also challenged the functional and aesthetic shortcomings of its predecessor. The new design provides an approachability which has created wide acceptance of the product with users. Along with the semantic user interface, increased tactile and visual feedback we have added quality and value which has led to a healthy commercial position for Promethean. Following its launch, Activote quickly gained a dominant position in the market and rapidly became the leading selling product with 24% share.
Focus group research and evaluation, concept design and development, detail design, prototyping, and implementation were all undertaken by PDu.
